Anyone take the plunge and buy one yet? I'd love to hear any thoughts!

I bought one. It was a bittersweet moment for me as my old AF-D was the lens that got me into photography. The new G is better in the sense of sharpness wide open (my old D was very sharp as it was, this new one is just a couple of notches 'sharper'), bokeh (very, very smooth. My old one sometimes produced 'busy' bokeh at 2.8, but the G is still silky) and not to mention that it can autofocus with my gf's D40x. AF speed is about the same though. One thing I miss about the AF-D was the small size. It was very easy for me to put it in a coat pocket if I needed it but this new one is a bit chunkier.
