Good Question; I looked for equipment on and off and he seems to be fairly cheap. When I last asked about local pickup - he said no; but there have been some posts that I dug up where he did allow it (for 1-2 items). So depends on his mood for the day? hehehe

It looks like a lot of the stuff that is on ebay/CL seems to be pretty much the same thing; but prices vary greatly.

would love to hear some personal experience / review on the quality of the products.

Group buy!! LOL

Wish I could come but I'd love to grab the Black and White Muslins he has for $65. If not, i'd just get him to ship since its. Apparently it free shipping for certain items, and these muslins qualify

You should get one of these if you have the time to wait - I have had mine for two years - decent quality for the price.

when I visited him he had more items than what was listed on ebay since he just runs the whole thing from warehouse and not a typical store front. I picked up random stuff I wasn't planning since I just saw them lying around. might be one of the reasons he rejects people visiting sometimes since he might not be there all the time. but yeah, nice guy to deal with.

Having a 5-in-1 reflector is one of the most versatile things you can have in your strobist arsenal, or even shooting ambient. The diffusion panel itself is great to soften the light, especially with speedlites.

I bought a strip softbox from them a year and a bit ago. No problems with them. Seems pretty reputable.

Yeah, I'd be down for 1. Let me see if there is anything else there I would want and maybe we can organize something.

Those umbrellas look like the 7.99 Yongnuo umbrellas, of which I have one. Again, decent quality but they are prone to breakage. For 14.99 I would pickup all three - you may use two or more on one lighting setup.

Had a look at the list of stuff he's got, just the umbrella for me at this point. Simon you already have this on your list as the group buy. Let us know how we can arrange to meet up and pay you back whenever you're ready.

thanks to those who placed their order. no more new order accepted

I will be at sick kids tomorrow evening to attend part 2 of Ryan's presentation. Please let me know if you are going, so I will bring your item(s) along.

I will try my best to lower the amount when I get there. Please add HST to your order, and I will be appreciated if punch in additional gas money.
