How long can you store film at fridge temperatures vs. frezzer?

I assume in the frezzer it is almost forever, well at least my lifetime, I'm an old fart.

edit-

To be more to the point what is the longest time you have personally or know first hand of someone else, stored film in the fridge with no ill effects from aging?

I am now pushing a range of year and a half for most and two and a half for some in the fridge.

I have some film that expired in 2005 stored in my fridge at home. Haven't encounted any problems.. Maybe some contrast loss but nothing important to me.

I have film that was expired at least dating back to 2005 -- and I shot and processed it no problem.

Kodak recommends -18 to -24 c to keep film longer then 6 months so the sooner you put it in the freezer the less you have to worry about the expiry date. I have shot ISO 100 B&W expired in 1977 and even shooting at the ISO 50 the base was considerably fogged (by gamma radiation?). High ISO films degrade fast while low iso lasts a lot longer.

I hope this is permissible in the new low tolerance TPMG forum
