Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a Canon 50mm 1.8 and was checking out ebay.

I found a lens for 105 shipping included and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the legitimacy of this seller. I just don't want to loose my money for a fake product.

http://cgi.ebay.ca/CANON-EF-50mm-f1-8-I ... 3734wt_816

If I were to buy from an international seller, will I have to pay tax or duty?

Thanks

if you are not into keeping any receipts I would see first if I can look for anything local as you can get to see and try the unit first before deciding to buy on it....

I usually find "slightly use" 50mm II f1.8 on craigslist and kijiji for less than $100.... AND that comes usually with lens hood and/or UV filter already...

just go for the golden rule of "deal locally... and in public "... you wont go wrong ... :)

just a thought.. hope that helps...

I also see a lot of 50 1.8 MKII on Craigslist and Kijiji. Once in awhile it will pop on Redflagdeals.

I picked up a Mark 1 on CL. There was another one a few weeks ago on Kijiji.

And I would also reiterate bluenite05's suggestion of dealing locally. At least you can try the lens on your body and see if it's any good before buying.

Thanks for your comments, I'm going to try looking locally and try out the lens before I buy it.

I would not be buying plastic fantastic from remote location. It has good optics but mechanically lots to be desired. I had returned two brand new once for focus switch malfunction, and the one I have right now has issues with it after it has been used for few years.
