Hay all,

So I want to print on actual water colour paper, arches or what not. Not the coated stuff Epson/canon/whoever else sells specifically for inkjet printing. Whats your opinion on the quality one can get? also how would you set up your printer? and what printer would you get to do this? what would you coat it with after the printing, to prevent it from leaving mark on the ageisant page in a book. (I don't mind upgrading my printer to a 13 inch model)

I want to print on both sides and make books out of it. FYI

Opinions?

you can buy a medium by Golden Paints that you apply to the paper before printing on it. This allows one to print on virtually any material out of a standard inkjet printer. The better the printer you use the better the results will be of course so i would look at the Epson models 1400 and up. They can all yield great results. You will have to create a custom printing profile for the paper to get colour corrected prints so you will need a calibrator capable of doing this or take it to a lab that can do it for you. If you are buying your own calibrator I recommend the X-Rite models (Color Munki or Eye One) as they tend to be the most accurate from my tests. All calibrators are finicky though so it may take some trial and error at first.

Hope this helps.

They have a matte clear coating this is better than the golden which has a gloss clear and a matte opaque.

Would anyone stock it around here? Curries has all the Golden products in store.

[edit] Found it its at vistek... so golden it is [/edit]

You can size your own paper. That's basically what you are doing. Gelatin or arrowroot. I'll dig up something if you are interested.
