I've managed to collect all the necessary gear to run a home darkroom and I'm interested to see if anyone else on TPMG has done the same. If so, I'd appreciate it if you would share your darkroom set up (especially if you've done so in a relatively small space)...

In particular, I'd like to get your solutions for the following:

1. minimizing dust;
2. maximizing ventilation;
3. print washing/drying set up;
4. design/build your own sink

Thanks in advance.

Ken

My uncle was doing this up till about 2006 as some chemicals became more expensive and something else difficult to find. I'm not familiar with what's involved as it just seemed too much work after getting used to using Photoshop.

However, his set up was an area in the basement. He set up the room almost like a coldcellar, and just had a modified 2 fan ovenhood that fed out the dryer hose closer to where it exited the house. The inside walls for the room where sealed up, and he just had plastic on the ceiling like what's used to insulate moisture from the basement wall. The rest were stainless steal, shallow but wide sinks to which the drain wasn't hooked up, he just had valves under them so he could empty them into empty jugs.

It's since been taken all down and the room widened for him to have his home studio.
