Ahhhhh!!!

Has anyone played with it yet? the 24p is nice, but I think the other features they've added to the video modes are really good too

Yes, I was waiting for this too. I thought maybe it was just me that remember seeing this.

Easy, download the new firmware, put D700 away and order a new 5D MkII. Three easy steps.

Ditto. But still thankful for 24fps. Maybe they're holding back some of the good stuff for the Mark III next year.

Perhaps, but I was really hoping that Canon would stop purposely crippling their systems through software. Oh well...

What the heck?! I haven't shot any video yet since the upgrade so haven't seen any hiccups yet. I might have to roll back my firmware just in case because I have a big shoot next Friday. Don't want to chance anything even though I have a second body. I've read some folks getting an Error 70 message after upgrading firmware. Hummm...

Are the Japanese really that bad with software quality nowadays? First the Toyota Pirus and now the Canon 5D2... hmmmmm I thought Microsoft is the one who releases software and let their customers be the testers.

Canon, the new Toyota?! lol

Someone's gonna get their head chopped off eventually. Humm in the span of under 5yrs we got mirror's falling off on the 5D, oil specs on the sensor from the mirror assembly on the 5D, AF issues on the 1DMK3, mirror box issues with the 1DMK3, black spots under certain lighting/highlights on the 5DMKII, banding issues on some 5DMKII now firmware bugs?

At least they can make the best fast tele zoom on the market today! The 70-200 MKII is just amazing, I could really get rid of my 85L if not for the f1.2.

Nice! Congrats on the lens. Hopefully I get the call soon that my lens is in. :P
At least this firmware hiccup only affects video shooters using C1/C2/C3 and manual audio.

That is so minor, I haven't yet used any of the C1 C2 stuffs, they are what? Custom setup? Too complex for me man, I am a simple guy.

Now I have my eyes on the rumored 24-70 IS :D

It's kind of scary when you're not really surprised if there were issues with Canon's current reputation. lol

I don't think they have debunked it. The thread on FM is still showing evident of the issue not limiting to the macro lens. Well, I don't shoot video much and I am still happily using the old firmware until the dust settles on this.

I built a rail system this weekend using the Igus parts and following the Zaza Slider instructions with a couple modifications of my own. I decided to do up a quick video (which took longer than I was planning). I was shooting a model using my Sigma 150mm macro lens and during some takes, I'd get the diaphragm adjusting while recording which meant having to redo the shots. I also noticed a few times where it seemed to lag or drop a frame or so. I was shooting at 1080p 24fps on a Lexar Pro 300x CF card. I had a strobe unit running during the shoot and noticed 3 distinct banding areas on some shots. I'm thinking of going back to the older firmware (pre 2.0.3) and redoing some of the shots.

Very frustrating. :x

I noticed the occasional random dropped frames/stutter while shooting in the 1080p24 mode as well. I haven't heard too many complaints about this from others yet, so I'm not sure if it is my cards or the firmware. I was using Extreme III UDMA.
