Any see a big difference? Or would the 1D series still be the best?

It really depends on what you're shooting. The 1Dm3 still has very fast AF if it's a recent build vs an older one that needed to be "updated".

If you need to depend on continous AF in servo mode, the 7D is probably a safer bet. I find that my 7D is faster than my 1Dm2 (not m3) in many ways, it's also ton's lighter and quite a bit cheaper. I still do like the built-in vertical grip of my 1D and 1Ds series when I shoot in portrait mode.

One nice thing about the 7D, is that the VF is actually larger than the 1Dm2, but still a bit smaller than the 1Ds.

yes but a markii is how old? 2001? and a markiii is 2007. Hardly comparing apples to apples
