Cliff Mautner got his grubby paws on one already. He wrote up some of this thoughts on his blog:

My only real beef with the current 70-200mm is the length of time it takes for the VR to become effective. I have on several occasions noticed camera shake in photos that should not have had any. I believe this is actually "lens shake", where the photo is taken at very nearly the same instant VR is activated, so the mechanism does not have time to settle. If the new version of the lens solves that problem, I will be tempted to upgrade. Flare, corner sharpness and vignetting aren't big issues for me.

I don't think the VRII on the newer 70-200 will be any better. I have the 18-200 VRII and use both lenses often, I think the VR on the 70-200 is a tad quicker. I know these are two different lenses but wouldn't the VR mechanism be the same?
