what sort of duty/taxes were charged to those who recently made purchases?

Does Purolator charge any brokerage fees?

All fees are calculated by B&H in the checkout.

Quote from the OP link:

Quote:
What's included in the final B&H price? All taxes, duties, and brokerage fees are included in the final number when you select Purolator ground shipping.

* Tax: Your local sales tax (GST + PST, or HST depending on province).
* Duty: Most camera equipment is duty free. If what you're buying is not, duties are included as well.
* Brokerage Fees: Purolator brokerage fees of $0.50 + 3% of owed tax/duties (disbursement) are calculated and included in the final price.

Thanks

Works for me with 7 line items, quantity of 12, this would have failed a week ago. Might just be Christmas overload on the server,

I had the same problem on Sunday but after the 8-10th time it worked. Nice thing is that everything is paid up front so you just sign at the door when they deliver the goodies.

I found out why it didn't work for me...because the items I ordered aren't "in-stock" items. Quoting from the site, "This feature is unavailable for orders that contain items of Special Order, Back Order & Drop Ship Items."

So it looks like I won't be taking advantage of this deal, and instead will have to pay several times more to get what I want!

Placed an order for the 1510 (olive drab colour.. just because haha), and the lid organizer.

It looks like B&H still have a problem with Perolator Ground calculations for duty and taxs when there are more than 8 line items.

That's what I couldn't understand about my order since I only had 2x2 items for a total of 4 items...but none of the items were in-stock items; there was no hint of why I couldn't get the tax/duty info...instead the Puralator option shouldn't have been available if I couldn't use it.

Nope...as I said above, "This feature is unavailable for orders that contain items of Special Order, Back Order & Drop Ship Items." and "none of the items were in-stock items."

USPS/Canada post does not show up when you go to check out anymore , even when you click on more shipping methods. However they have something called International express mail and it is the most expensive of the lot.

When I finally placed my order I could only get the checkout to take 8 items, so the 9th item will have to wait till the next order. Pro m43 body from Olympus rumoured to be coming, hmmmmm.

I don't recall ever seeing USPS as a shipping option to Canada. How long ago was this?

They had the USPS option as recent as a few months ago (before the introduction of ground purolator).

It was called International Express Mail or International Priority Mail, it never was explicitly called USPS.

Those are still there when you click "more options" (just checked), but it is and was always dependent on what you've ordered on value/weight...if it exceeded the limits of the postal service that option didn't show up (I've had this happen to me in the past).

One of the rumours from CR today is that there will be price increases for Canon USA starting in Feb 2011, mainly to combat the weaker dollar...

If it's true, there will be a mad rush of purchases made in the next two months from BH... at least for all the Canon gear anyway

Hi All
I just purchased ink and a reflector from B&H. Ordered Friday evening. Shipping, duty, disbursements, HST etc calcuated on the B&H site. Order arrived Tuesday perfectly. I did not pay a cent over what was calculated on the web site. Yes there was a shipping fee, yes there was a brokerage fee and disbursement fee (about $1 total with purolator). GREAT ! Same stuff at Vistek/Henry's etc would cost me a LOT more even after all the additional shipping costs.

Just keep in mind that they B&H store is in US dollars so as long as the CDN is at or above par you should be OK.

Oh one thing, for some reason because I had different types of items in my shopping cart, it took a v-e-r-y long time for the online calculator to give me my shipping/duties cost and let me go to the checkout. I don't know maybe it was a problem at my end. But it seemed to work right away when I had only one 'type' of item in the shopping cart.

How come the Can. stores say that things cost more because they have to be shipped to Canada? No they dont!
