High ISO performance isn't too bad. About 1.5 stop behind the 5D II.

I, as an avid consumer feel deeply disappointed and betrayed by Canon. Where's my 63 point AF? Usable ISO 6400?

If I understand correctly, the 100L does not include hood or tripod ring. I will never understand the reason behind this, especially for a lens this expensive. It only shows how greedy they are. The cheapest Sigma, Pentax, Olympus, Tamron, Panasonic lenses always includes a hood (and most often a lens bag).

This is most likely a pricing error as the 15-85 costs almost twice as much by itself. If anyone wants to jump on it and hope Henrys honors it, now is your chance.

It's probably not a price error. the 15-85 will probably replace the current 17-85 and on Amazon the new 15-85 lens is listed at $799USD

You have to read and see the pictures at that link. I won't explain it since that defeats the purpose of a joke.

It was just something I noticed while reading through. It was an off topic joke anyway.

In any case, I'm a little disappointed that the 19 AF points are all within the same diamond since I was hoping for it to be spread out a bit more. But overall a step forward.

According to http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/conten ... 0042-10244

EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS is CDN$999.99
EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS is CDN$599.99

So, it would be weird for the 18-135 kit to cost more than the 15-85 kit. I bet those prices are supposed to be the other way around.

Heck, no! Although it is amusing to see Canon borrowing a few pages from Nikon's playbook this time: putting more high-end features in a mid-range body, offering customizable controls, adding wireless control to the pop-up flash, etc. The new AF module looks to be the most promising upgrade, IMHO. Still, it's hard to switch to anything else once you've shot with the D700 + 24-70/2.8 and 70-200/2.8 VR. :D

Yes, and now Nikon will lack all of the fast primes that Canon has and everything else will be the same ;) It's Nikon that needs to clean up their act. The 24-70 is now lagging behind Sony's CZ version. I'm thinking of selling off my Nikkor 24-70 and just sticking with the Canon 24-105L. Let's hope my future 70-200VR-II can match or exceed the Canon 70-200/2.8 IS.

the viewfinder looks very interesting on 7D with 100% coverage and lcd overlay. Also ability to use both EF-S and EF lenses is kinda cool too

Full frame cameras such as the 5D and 1Ds (and including the 1D even though it's a 1.3x body) cannot use EF-S lenses. Other lenses like Sigma's designed for cropped-body cameras can be used on full frame cameras but you get pretty severe vignetting.

I was hoping that Canon was coming up with a cheaper full frame camera but I doubt that will happen as they have one right now called the 5DMrkII (or a used 5D) LOL.

Humm, I wonder if Canon realized that they killed some sales from their 1Ds Mark III when they released the 5D Mark II and figured that if the 7D had a 1.3 crop they'd kill their 1D Mark III sales?

I too find the 100% viewfinder with transparent LCD overlay pretty cool.

Is AF still not available in Live View video shooting mode? Finally support for 24fps video! Now they just need to update the firmware on the 5D II to support that!

Oh it probably did take away of some of the sales but then you do have to understand that the 5DMrkII was released after the 1DMrkIII. If Canon was able to refresh the entire lineup all at once then they would ensure that the top camera would have the best of everything but that just isn't the case. The next refresh of the 1D will again position itself up at the top.

I stand corrected, but I was lost on why he commented that the 7D's ability (which is a cropped sensor) having the ability to use EF-S and EF are cool. As all cropped can do this.

sorry. submitted twice due to lag.

What IS cool is the Nikon D700 having DX crop mode. It's cool the other way around.

I hear ya. I was actually hoping that it would be a 1.3 crop factor, like the 1D series. I wonder if Canon would ever make a grip-less 1.3 factor DSLR? ....
