Last week the Blacks under the Exchange Tower (Toronto Stock Exchange) had several medium with black & brown exterior with tan interior for $20. And the Blacks in the TD Centre had a medium with 2 tone khaki exterior with green inside on display, I think for $17.

The only thing I didn't like is that HUGE metal zipper pull on the inside mesh pocket, just waiting to scratch the camera's LCD.

the main caution when using these bags is to avoid dusty conditions, the interior materials trap dust and sand which then scratch cameras and lenses stored in it... i took one to the Sahara desert and spent 30 min vacuuming out the sand and didn't manage to get everything out... it's fine to use as storage but not the best for use in windy, dusty environments.. dust and dirt will accumulate over time since the top flaps of these bags don't completely seal the interior from the elements the way a zipper closure or longer top flap would...

I was at DVShop today and the sales guy Terry told me that the Versa knock-offs are going off the market because Crumpler is suing them for copyright infringement. They have lots in stock as the large bag - similar in size to 6MDH/DH is only $25.
I have the middle size one and it is a pretty good shoulder bag.

Did they have much colours? Maybe I'll pick up a large bag before they run out =P

In large they had tan and black for sure. I saw red too but I think those were smaller. Go to DVShop.ca and give them a call.

http://www.cambags.com might give you some ideas.

I'd link directly to the Crumpler 6MDH page, but the site uses a lot of frames.

So I got one of the large ones from Sig Electronics. Hard to believe how crazy the deal was for the size of the bag.....

They include so many separators, lots of room to be creative with them haha.

i stopped by the other day and the guy who sold it mentioned something about people coming in after looking at posting on a board so maybe this was what he was referring too :D

i also have a crumpler and this really is good for the cost without much compromise if any. the only difference is that crumpler is a bit more thicker and because of it, it acts more like a "box" while this one is more thinner/flexible and acts like a bag/pouch.

Made the trek over to SIG in Richmond Hill and picked up the brown bag. Crazy deal, thanks for pointing it out orangutan.

It's a dead wringer for a Crumpler bag. Smaller than my 7 Million Dollar Home which is just perfect for what I'm looking for. Good thing I have a Crumpler, otherwise no way would I be able to figure out to arrange those pukey green inserts inside.

This is definitely a city bag and as mentioned not something you want to take to a rainy or dusty environment.

My only rant is that the shoulder strap is pretty garbage. It doesn't really fit well as I can feel the strain from the weight of my gear but at that price I ain't complaining. I ended up buying just a very comfortable lowepro strap that cost just as much as the bag itself, lol.

Optical illusion, it is the same dimensions as my 7 Million Dollar Home Crumpler bag, still like it, just sucks having paid about $160 for the original from Vistek a few years ago, oh well.

Anyway for those trying to get a handle on how to arrange the inserts, here is a picture of a real Crumpler that may help you arrange them:

Ok for the betterment of society and from my upcoming book '1001 uses of fugly camera bag inserts', I give you:

TADA!
Padded Camera Handle:
Try holding the original thin bag handle for awhile with a heavy bag and see how your hand feels.

Just take one of those pukey green straight padded insert pieces that have the velcro along both edges and wrap it tightly around the bag handle and use one of the velcro ends pressed down to close it in place. The inserts are a bit stiff, so wrap it tightly for a snug fit. Makes a very comfortable handle.

Image

Now with that classy padded handle is that a stylish and comfortable no-name Crumpler clone or what!

Image

Last but not least here is a picture of how I have the inserts in my cloner set up. It allows you to either place the camera with lens attached nose down in the middle bottom pocket or lie it across the top (if it had a long lens attached) with the padded flaps underneath it protecting the camera from touching lenses in the various pockets underneath it.

Image

Thank you and I do accept Paypal donations.
I will also be conducting 'Camera Bag Insert Configuration for the Photo Pro' Classes at Vistek & Henrys for $100 each. Stay tuned for times & schedules. :D

Good to know... I always wondered about the "water resistance' capabilities

Drove past the Crumpler store last night and thought I should walk in with my knock off :D
