who cares if a new camera comes out, really. sure, people have the right to be a little disappointed that a new camera has come out so soon after they bought the one that is now being replaced, but they shouldn't expect the camera being replaced to be the forerunning model forever, and definately shouldn't act like it wasn't going to be ever replaced (and hence disappointed when it does get replaced). it's technology - what do you expect people?!?!

+1

Blame it on Nikon for they started this latest round of camera wars. Canon needs to maintain (regain) it's dominance in entry level DSLRs. I wouldn't be surprised to see an entry level full frame and perish the thought 4 3rd camera from them in the near future. A scaled down version of the new sensor say 12MP in the 4 3rds format would have good specs.

450D -> 500D -> 550D, all 1 year apart.

40D -> 50D -> 7D also all 1 year apart.

I'd say it was pretty predictable.

One thing is certain. Body of the camera will always drop in value. The value is on what glass you have. That almost always hold much better value than the bodies. I do sympathize as the life cycle of bodies seem to be getting shorter though.

It really isn't the camera companies fault. It's ours! We always have to get the latest and greatest even though our current equipment will do the job just fine!

I have a couple of friends who purchased a D3 about 2yrs ago and now they are looking into purchasing the new D3s. But their current D3 gets the job done just fine as a paper weight! They both ask me if I wanted to buy it off them, but my D2h gets the job done just fine.

I'll be buying the T2i on its release and I'm unsure what memory card to get for it. Does anyone have any SDHC memory card recommendations?

I will probably get a card that is fast enough to shoot 1080p video and one that is fast enough to shoot stills - hoping that the stills card will cost a bit less.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm doing some research on cards, too. I'll post here if I find any info that might help.

Thanks!
Adam

I don't see this as consumer initiated. People will buy what's out there and if the camera production cycle returned to every 2-3 years that would be fine with us. I see it as the manufacturers trying to gain market share and increase their profits by shortening the production cycle and marketing to consumers that they should have the latest and greatest. Don't buy into it ..

The stills side actually could use faster performance than the video side. A class 6 is sufficient for video, anything faster doesn't make a difference. On the stills side, the camera can generate raw data faster than a class 6. The faster you clear the buffer, the faster you can shot.

Thanks, Kin Lau! Looks like I took the incorrect approach.

Futureshop seems to have Class 10 SDHC cards from Panasonic priced cheaper than SanDisk Class 6.

I may look into those.

Thanks again!

Many places price the class 10's cheaper because many digicams/camcorders can't handle Class 10 cards yet, but the new T2i should be able to, it can handle SDXC also.

Thanks again for the help, Kin Lau. I ended up buying a Transcend 16 GB Class 6 SDHC card at Canada Computers for $50.

I shot a bit of video of the snow storm yesterday, and it seems to have worked well! If any issues come up, I'll post here.

Hopefully, the SDXC cards will drive down the cost of the SDHC cards...

Cheers!
Adam

Someone is doing a group buy from craigslist:

http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/pho/1621269504.html

I signed up for it. Just received email that 9 people were interested..

Anyways, please do your own research, I do not know who the person is..
