So is it easy to take your camera out if let's say you stop for a couple seconds on your hike and see a nice image? Also if you got some personal belongings on top of the ICU inside the pack, like clothes, do you think it's going to be easy to take the gear out and put it back in?

You dont need to pull gear out of the top of the pack to access the ICU.

This pack doesn't replace a shoulder bag to work out of, ie. access isn't two seconds. As with most packs, it's designed to help you get to a location (perhaps one that required hiking or scrambling over less than ideal terrain), then take out the gear you need to shoot.

This pack offers someone a way to carry both their gear and weekend clothes, supplies to a destination.

Dmitri, check out the website to see how it works. it's kinda like a lot of the crumplers where the back opens up to the storage within. there's also a guy on youtube who did almost a 30min review of the thing.

Thanks for the review and pics Ken. I'll wait for your follow up review after your trip. Gotta luv Arcteryx packs! If I were to replace my old Bora 80, it'll have to be another Arcteryx! :-)

Why can't I find Arcteryx's camera backpack? Are you guys just putting your camera's in other cases and packing it?

I'm leaning toward this bag...thanks for the review!!!

grrr...why do I always double post?? Might as well expand...

I'm looking for a bag that will open and show all compartments in one case, backpack, no wheels, where you don't put the strap side into the snow/mud to open which you then get all over yourself when you put it back on.

Found the burton 28L rides really high but wouldn't hold everything I want to carry anyway. camera, lenses, meter, 3-4 flashes, tripod, lightstand, etc.

I currently spend more time trying to find all my gear then I do using it. So I think being able to sling the second ICU is an awesome idea.

The Burton and Dakine bags aren't cheap either...

Oh, I wish Arcteryx made photo backpacks! Unfortunately the packs Ken and myself refer to are designed for day hikes or overnight treks.

If you're interested in attending a F-stop camera backpack demo event in Toronto register your interest here:

http://tpmg.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17230

This is an event that I'm organizing as I've been trying to negotiate a group discount for TPMG members. Turns out the head designer of the packs is originally from Toronto and will be here for the holidays.

Couple of points of clarification - according to fstop.

"The rip-stop nylon actually had a PU (waterproof) coating on the back. The seam-seal is heavy and would ad about $10 to the cost of the pack, which would translate into about $50 retail. We do sell a rain cover that takes care of it, but I can tell you that I have personally used it in very stiff rain for days at a time with no issue. Also, we pick the silver zippers as they are solid instead of black coated which chips off and can rust

I heard about these bags a few weeks ago from the presenter at Vistek's Landscape Photography seminar (great seminar, learned lots!). She was telling us about them and how she's going to be using hers for the backcountry traveling she does quite a bit.

Personally I've been looking for something like this for a year or so now and am looking pretty closely at the Tilopa BC; maybe once the Xmas spending is outta the way :)

Definitely interested in that seminar but the 30th doesn't work for me. Hopefully that's not the locked down date but if it is then I'd still love to hear about any discounts re: group buy.

Thanks for the review Ken, good to read about it from someone first hand!

The 30th is not set in stone. However whatever discount I can get for TPMG members will be only offered to those who attend in person.

In that case hopefully the confirmed date will be a day I can be there. :)
