I was wondering about that too. I think he'll ditch his XSi and add another eye.

The reason for that is I decided to make some money using photography, and XSI doesn't cut it in the ISO department :D

The ISO range is definitely nice to have, don't even mind the quality. 18MP is ridiculous. I'd hate to work with such big RAW files. It'll kinda encourage amateurs to shoot jpg, no? Too bad not sRAW.

I kinda expected the movie and iso specs. Though the other stuff doesn't impress me too much. Or maybe I'm just done with the Rebels.

I've never had a Rebel but I may pick one up eventually as a fun video shooter .. plus it can take pictures too.

Same with me and StE, and thankfully we don't have a XSi in our line up at this moment. What makes you suddenly think that your XSi is not cutting it when you have been doing paid shooting for a while already? Doesn't your client buy your creativity instead of the gears you use as you have stated in the past?

I still think you need a third(I think) eye.. :)

On a serious note, I think I might pick one up to accompany my 5D as I was going to pick up a 7D.

if people in the past can cut it with high iso film, im sure his ultimate creativity and talent have no problem slicing it

Creativity is exactly what gets them hooked in the first place, but no, I haven't done paid assignments before, just a couple starting now. The thing is I am a perfectionist, so I am never satisfied with what I have, and I know client expectations are much much lower than mine, that's why I haven't done much paid assignments so far. I am more of an artist than a photographer in my mind. Even though I believe what I had said before, and Ryan is the best living example of it (shooting with XT), I still have a natural desire to grow and get new possibilities. As for unpaid work, my XSI is more than enough for what I do. :)

hmmmm so you mean because your clients' expectations are much lower than yours so you don't have any clients??

so I guess you refused your potential clients because they have much lower expectations :)

PotatoGuy just means he feels he needs to be better before he breaks into the world of photography for a living.

Which is fair.

Start strong and impress. Don't forget the harshest critic is yourself, and also internet forums but internet forums are so full of..... smiley faces.

It's okay for a person to shoot for clients with a Rebel camera. Creativity can get you far. As long as your clients are happy, you can be shooting with a Rebel and kit lenses for all they care. Even if a person has pro gear, it doesn't mean you have to shoot professionally.

What were we talking about again? Oh yeah, the new camera. Not Dimitri.

the point is not the rebel shoot for clients, it's the point that someone claimed the awesome talented creativity is all u need, but the person is shopping for new camera already... (oh not to mention to brag about the new macro lens he got)

But he was complaining about the noise on XSi but brag about how his "clients" only care about the creativity of his pics....

nope this thread is for potato haters so if you don't have an attack to add on please get the hell out!

on an unrelated note, i always wanted to get an older rebel body to do the IR conversion with, i wonder how the videos will work with the conversion... if the price of T1i drops enough might be an interesting thing to try out.

Youth.

Anyway i think it's a great backup camera. That being said - I haven't had a cropped camera appeal to me that my current cropped camera doesn't do already (more or less).

What we really need is a entry level Canon FF!!!

Wow. I know a few people that picked up a T1i over the holidays. Not sure how they feel about this.

As for the camera, glad to see they have very good video functionality even on an entry level camera. Now if they could only apply this to the firmware for the 5D2.
