How do the Enerloops compared to others? ...like these...even though they are 2500 mAh

***edit***
found this on the Sanyo site
Quote:
Higher voltage means that Eneloop 2000 mAh batteries will have similar performance to 2500mAh conventional rechargeables.

Quote:
Compatible with Other Battery Chargers
Eneloop batteries are not limited to Eneloop chargers or any special proprietory charging technology and can be charged using other quality non-Eneloop Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery chargers.

The Sanyo's eneloops seem to be the Strobist standard on a lot of the forms - they are only 2000 Mah but they hold a charge for a super long time (up to a year apparently). I have a bunch of the TigerDirect UltraPro's (AA 2500Mah) and I just use then around the house - they seem fine but they are no Eneloops. I have been using Energizers recharables in my flashes with no issues.

Here is a great link that has everything you ever wanted to know about batteries but were afraid to ask. http://photography-on-the.net/forum/sho ... p?t=677074

Wendy, put me down for a few sets of AA's - I can meet you this weekend and give you ca$h - I live right near Fairview Mall. I will PM you my number.

Update: My buddy gave me the wrong price details. Turns out there is no tax. So 4xAA(A) is $15, and the battery charger with 4AA is $25.

Cheers,
wendy

I'm just curious, with the amount of 'fake' enerloops out there nowadays, can we be sure these are 'real'?

Because the fake ones apparently does still self-dischrage quite a bit.

Not implying anything, just wondering if there's a method to tell real batteries from fake batteries.

If you're concerned with the possibility of fakes out there, then just buy the batteries from the store for a slightly higher price is what I would do.

oh, I'm not really concerned. I'm just curious if there's a way to tell fake batteries.

There's extensive guides to how to spot fake headphones from sennheiser on ebay, and fake other stuff, that I wonder if there's a way to tell 'fake' from 'real' batteries.

From a quick glance so far, the fake enerloops seem to be larger than normal AA batteries, giving them a tough fit in some slots. (ie, not regulation size). And of course, the self-discharge issue.

ok, i'm concerned enough to ask wendy: is there some assurance that these batteries are not fake? No offence intended, but if fakes are being circulated, it would be Bad if I paid money for fakes.

Regarding the authenticity of the batteries, I took them straight out of the packaging and used them this Sunday during a photoshoot and they seemed fine. And I didn't have any trouble getting them out after. Don't know what else I can tell you.

You can take a look at the batteries and the packaging before you buy them and decide then whether you want them or not.

FYI Costco has Sanyo Eneloops 6AA and 2 AAA plus C and D adapters for $18 + tax. Huge thread on this in RFD.

There was plenty of stock in the Richmond Hill location.

for what it's worth, I've previously bought eneloops from Dell before, and they look exactly like this (just got these from wendy):
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mike-tan/3904204491/" title="eneloops yay! by mike.tan, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2574/3904204491_466a6db2b2.jpg" width="500" height="296" alt="eneloops yay!"></a>
so, unless you think Dell sells fake stuff, the product's good! :)

Any chance of second round group buy? I don't mind waiting for a little bit.

Sorry for the delay guys. My friend just got back to me. For some reason the prices have gone up $2. So, $17 and $27 for the battery pack and charger+batteries, respectively.

Let me know if you're still interested.

Anyone still interested in batteries? The price went down to $15 for the batteries and $27 for the charger + batteries. I feel like I'm in the freaking stock market.

How many packs of what do you need? 4AA, 4AAAs, or charger with 4AAs? I want to go to that camera show in Thornhill on Sunday and can meet before that (around 9:30-10), or after that (probably 11:30 - 1).
