so I am in the market for a gimbal head and wondering what are some of the good names out there in the GTA. jobu-design.com has been recommended to me, any other names? This will be for my newly purchased Sigma 500mm f/4.5 with a 1.4tc

thanks

Not sure how big the sigma is but Wimberley Head - Version II is a great setup for big glass. Tracking is a moving target is effortless.

+1 Jobu They are also just down by the queensway and you can visit the shop in person. They often have factory 2nds and cash in hand will often get further deals.
I was originally going to go with one of the jr models but after visiting in person and with a "deal" ended up with the Pro2 which is utterly fantastic!

Go Jobu. I have a BWG Pro. I use it with my big lenses and it is excellent. For the size of lens you are talking about you will need the Pro model.

I am picking up the junior model on Tuesday with the option to exchange for the higher model at a later date.

played with the jr model yesterday and it seemed to work fine with what I have, but I am going to exchange for the higher model anyway to see what the difference is. The only thing I dont like is the metal knob on the quick release hurts my skin sometimes because it's not rubberized.

I would recommend the Wimberley. Like Photoshop is the standard for editing, Wimberley is the standard for gimbal heads. I find it to still be the best.

Have you tried the Jobo? Personally, I returned my Wimberley after using it.
