Just received the new Alienbees (PCB) Einstein's today and was testing out the lights.

I found that when on full power (1/1) there was smoke coming out from either the flash tube or the modeling lamp, not sure. Even after a test fire, there was smoke again.

I removed the frosted dome and the same thing happens.

Anyone else experience this or have any ideas? PCB will be hearing from me for sure, but wanted to know if anyone has had similar experiences.

Thanks

Just got off the phone with PCB tech support. They said that the smoke could just be from the new tubes and it is just burning off whatever coating is on it.

I will continue to use and monitor the results.

I don't think I would be complaining if it were.

This has happened to me several times with lowel tota tungsten lights, the first time I'd turn them on, there would be smoke coming from the bulb and then it would be fine.

with tungsten fixtures -- its not the bulb that is smoking -- its the heat resistant paint coating on the fixture.....

years ago when I worked for Christie Lites, we bought a big batch of FE flood lights, and plugged them all in, sat them on the ground, and let them smoke away for 4 hours. Using a big huge 4' fan, we blew the smoke out of the building. This is normal.
