I noticed a problem with a D300s the other day. I had on it an older lens, with an aperture ring and kept getting F EE error messages. Rest assured the aperture was locked at its smallest value (f22). However, when I mount a lens without an aperture ring (e.g., a G lens), there is no problem. I cleaned the contacts on the older lens to no avail. I suspect there is a problem with the body mount ring, specifically the part that indents into the lens. I have tried moving it slightly and then mounting the lens and sporadically the EE message goes away, but this is not all the time. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I will plan to see if Nikon can fix this problem. Hopefully the warranty will cover this!

Do you have another lens with an ap ring? Or a second body to mount it on? I've just tried one on a rented d300s with no problems.

I don't think it's the indent because AI lenses don't have that..

Imageone: I tried using 3 lenses with aperture rings

Eric: I think it's the lever on the body ring, and not the indent on the lenses.

Thanks.
