The Einstein uses bayonet style quartz bulb and runs at a toasty 250watts. That being said, it seems like a good idea to switch to LED as most my shots are off of battery. Have any PCBE users found a seller of such an item?

Right now I just switch off the model lamp to save juice. It hasn't been a problem yet but still... a model lamp might actually be needed sometime.

You have to see what the bulb model number is first...if you post that maybe someone can find an LED equivalent.

Another alternative may be fluorescent.

But no matter what substitution you make, the issue will be reduced light output.

Thanks mikefellh. Fluorescents don't favour the brownout of shooting with Vagabond Mini (sorry I forgot to mention the VM). Fluorescents tend to flicker until power is restored to 100%. I discovered that with the AB B400's and a common household CF light.

Reduced light isn't an issue for me. Nor is the LED model lamps non linear tracking. I just want a rough idea of light shape and the reassurance of always being able to lock focus without draining the VM battery.

The bulb type is bayonet. Bayonet is a common fitting for automotive signal lights. You have probably seen them before. The base looks like it has Frankenstien electrodes coming out each side to hold it into the light fixture. Here is what I have been able to find http://www.ledtronics.com/Products/Prod ... =M601K1150 . However, $42 per bulb is a bit steep

I'm still looking for cheaper options. :?

Man, sooooo wish that would work with the Einstein. The bulbs are a completely different size and mount. Einstein bulbs are only about 2" long (including the base) and about 1/2"
