Is there any conflict or issues if one mixes Canon flashes and YN flashes ( e.q. YN-460, 468 etc) thats being fired by a Canon ST -E2 transmitter? will it lose its ETTL capabilities...?

any input is greatly appreciated.. please do note that both flashes is already at hand before deciding to buy ST-E2... and I know its more "conflict-free" if one uses all Canon brand flashes..that is if finances is not restricted... :(

You'll be restricted to only manual shooting, no E-TTL for you.

thanks radup.... good to know that one but then I have no problem shooting just manual... my concern is more about misfires and/or one flash is late in firing... have you tried this setup before?

I haven't tried the YN flashes myself. Are they supposed to work with the ST-E2?

I read somewhere on the internet people were having concerns about the consistency of the light output.

ok now that I read your question again, I see it's about the ST-E2.

I don't use that either. I use radio triggers.

I don't understand why you would buy the ST-E2 for triggering manual flashes? Just use a set of cheap radio triggers and you're good. It doesn't matter what brand of manual flashes you use they should sync fine in manual mode.

I think he intended to use ETTL mode

Here is a chart that expalins the capabilities of each YN flash:

This would be THE place to ask your question to validate if a YN product will do what you need it to:

PE is right, since I have two Canon flashes and 1 YN flash I still want to have that capability of using the ETTL function just for emergency purposes....

@Jamesy.. thanks for the links, did learn some inputs in there... :)
