I'm not sure if everyone here trolls Craigslist, but a Canon 70-200 F/4L popped up in the last day or so for $450. The ad says it was bought new in '06 and comes with everything. Location is Oshawa.

This is the cheapest I've seen this lens in a long time. Considering the general quality of the shots that come out of most copies, anyone who is considering one would be crazy not to jump on it.

$550 is the avg I see.... $450 means they want a no nonesense, quick sale. I visit craigslist quite often.

I would say its NOT too good to be true.

do these sell at all? with the IS version I doubt that very many people would opt for one of these

Yes, they do. The IS version is easily twice the price on the used market.

It's a good lens for studio. Shoot at f/8 and with strobes, no one needs IS.

I have the IS version and have used it for shooting sprint cars under the lights. Just crank up the ISO as needed and I can make 16x20's.

It is a nice light lens for travel and backpacking, thats for sure.

Same boat...I have the 2.8 IS I and it is HEAVY. I miss the the weight of the F4 when travelling.

I have this lens - F4 Non IS and it is superb - arguably the best bang for your buck in an L lens. I don't see myself ever selling this lens .. unless I switch brands altogether. :)

Ask for the serial number. If the seller is unwilling to reveal it, assume the item is stolen. We have had rented items stolen from us and re-sold on forums like Craigslist and Kijiji.
