I wish Canon put IS on the sensor. I might make the glass cheaper.

This "rumour" was posted in Feb, 2009, so if this is confirmation, I wonder what would be considered timely delivery to market :P

Apparently, Canon confirmed that there's a new IS version for the 24-70mm L F2.8

A rumour from Feb 2009 seems to be that, a great rumour and nothing more!

This rumour has been around for a few years now. I have a hunch, and really just a hunch as I know nobody in the industry, that it will be announced soon. Just a hunch.

The real question is do you get the new one of pick up the slightly cheaper existing model that floods the used market?

The latest rumour is it's going to be announced in August.... The latest rumour has been it's going to be announced soon for a while though.

Wasn't there a rumour that Noink was gonna release an IS version of this lens and the 135 and 85?
If they do, I'm sure Canon will do it as well.
Would be nice to have a stabilized 85 and 135 as well.

I doubt it.

I heard somewhere they make more profit margin on IS lenses.

I think they will introduce more IS lenses with HDSLRs benefiting alot.

I imagine they find better candidates for IS than a f2.8 lens that is already bulky, heavy and thick (thus nicknamed 'the brick')
