Saw this lens and couldn't believe the price. Less than $300.00

It is actually a 650-1300mm lens with a 2x convertor

Not alot of specs on this lens but did find some info

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001GKRRAO/ref ... B001GKRRAO -- Amazon price and few details

http://best-lens.blogspot.com/2009/10/o ... ition.html - more details

Not sure how the quality of pictures would turn out with that but it would be interesting to see.

I wouldn't go near that Maureen. Keep your money and go for something else. The focal range is too wide and at the price, I am very skeptical of the glass qualities they are using.

Not looking to buy it.

Though it was an interesting length and so cheep. Hadn't seen any lens with that focal length before.

Avoid brands like Opteka, Crystal Optics, or any lens that says "high definition" or "professional"...if you have to advertise a lens as "professional" chances are it isn't. Pros know what is or isn't good, it's the average consumer that they are trying to fool.

It's pretty much useless actually because of the small aperture. If you use the 'rule of thumb' that you want your shutter speed to be 2x the focal length, then at 650mm, you want to be shooting at 1/1300th of a second or better. Very tough to do at f/8 unless you are taking pictures of the sun :-). Now this is BEST case as it only goes downhill from there.

At 2600mm, you would want 1/5000th of a second, but you have to shoot at f32! Not sure what the minimum focus distance would be, but I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to use your flash to fill in any missing light :-)

Also, you won't get any auto-focus at any f-stop and at f32, you probably won't even be able to see anything through your viewfinder.

Summary from the Web:
[quote]This lens has an effective fixed aperture of 81.25mmm. Therefore, when it is zoomed in to 650mm, it has a relative aperture of f/8, and when it is zoomed out to 1300mm, it has a relative aperture of f/16.

Adding a 2
