[quote]Tokina has announced that its 16-28mm F2.8 ultra wide angle zoom lens will be available in Nikon and Canon full-frame mounts. Announced at PMA 2010, the AT-X 16-28 F2.8 PRO FX lens features the company's newly developed AF system that features a quieter Silent Drive-Module (SD-M) autofocus motor and promises more precise focusing. The weather-sealed lens comes with a fixed lens hood and does not incorporate a filter thread. Priced at

Boo I guess with no Sony mount? I was so hopeful given they released the 11-16 in A mount.

It doesn't take filter rings makes me go "hmmm..."

Also the fact it's only 28mm on the long end? I hope that it's only a 2x zoom means it'll be optically excellent though.

Then again, all this being said, I'm not in the market for this lens anyway.

I guess this is supposed to be somewhat of a contender for the 16-35 or 14-24?

I'm skeptical though, for that price tag, I think most Canon users would probably pay a bit more and opt for the 16-35LII. Maybe even a prime, instead...

Indeed, it is expensive for a 3rd party lens. I guess it'll be a wait and see if the optics deserve this price or if the price remains that high.

Perhaps the Sony mount will come later as it did with the 11-16?

I just hope there's more stock with the local GTA vendors. Vistek and Henrys takes forever to get a Tokina lens in.
