For people with Nikon body which can do CLS with built-in flash trigger? any reason why you want to use wireless trigger on you SB600/800/900 flash?

I can see you want to trigger non-Nikon flash...

Sometimes the flashes dont pick up the trigger flash and it helps to have a wireless trigger for sure.

Example - when you put the flash behind something for back lighting, etc. and it is obscured and cannot see the flash. It can be unreliable sometimes.

Also, when it is bright outside in sunlight, i found the wireless sometimes misses the CLS triggering due to the bright sun.

With wireless, i dont worry about any of that. However, you will probably lose the TTL ability once you go wireless.

Sb 600/800/900 have the optical slave only on one side of the flash... Sometimes when I play around if my camera is on the opposite side of the flash (not the side with the sensor) the flash won't go off .. Get triggers if you need reliabilty

Chopper made a very good point. If you go with a wireless flash remote, you will lose TTL ability and will have to shoot your flash in manual mode. The other option is to use the SU-800 Remote Commander but because it is IR, your flashes will have to be in the line of sight. However, if you're in a small room, the IR can be bounced off walls etc. Outdoors in bright daylight, the IR is known to fail on occasion and line of sight is more critical.
