Just wondering what you guys think in terms of the best brand of AA rechargeables.

I've been using energizers' nimh but I've found they don't really hold the charge that well. Seems like if I leave them in my speedlite for more than two days idle they lose their charge completely.

Is there such a thing as the best brand & best charger??

There are a couple of recent threads in here about eneloop. They're quite good and don't lose their charge. If you need any, PM me.

I just got some eneloops from Wendy although I have not tried them yet - I hear they are very good. I have used Ultra Pro's from TigerDirect and Energizers - both with good sucess.

Here is a pretty in depth review of most of the major batteries out there.

I have heard the Maha (like Sam's above) and LaCrosse are the best chargers around but they are pricey.

they didn't have any of the 8x chargers in stock tho so i opted for a pair of 4x

... try www.thomasdistributing.com
The prices are pretty good ... better for the Maha charger above and the batteries are pretty good ($12.97 USD for 4x 2900 maH NiMH) and the charger is $68.00USD.
Service and delivery are good and fast. And if you search on Google you can usually find a coupon for 5 or 10% off ...
Just picked up a second 8x charger and some batteries.
Highly recommended.
Tim

I use energizer batteries and usually charge them a day before I use them. I cannot find the link but remember there was a mention that energizer batteries have fast discharge which is great for multiple flashes but it does not retain it's charge well.

My group of motorcycling friends did a group order for the LaCrosse chargers from thomasdistributing.com back in the summer. Pretty good charger.

Just out of curiosity, which exact model did you get and how much was it in $CDN$ to your door?

I'm also using Eneloops (picked up some from Amazon, some from Costco, which came with C/D size adapters and some AAAs as well)

I got my LaCrosse charger off amazon US, they wouldn't ship to Canada, so I had to get a friend to bring it back when he came.

Thomas Distributing has the newer version, <A href="http://www.thomasdistributing.com/shop/la-crosse-bc900-battery-charger-w-lcd-displaybrdeluxe-travel-bag-accessory-kit-brprice-5497-p-539.html?SP_id=41&osCsid=a98rm8a91donrsllit8gi3gna7">BC-900</a>, it's a few bucks more but also includes a few batteries.

Was that a group buy here? Hmmm I recall reading a bulk order from Thomas Distributing, darn, missed it!

I use a Maha MH-C777PLUS-II to recondition batteries but I can only do one at a time but at least I can recondition batteries in any shape or form with the supplied alligator clips.
