Hi

I noticed a couple people bought "LENSPEN "Superior Lens Cleaning System for Fine Optics" from maxsaver.net. Does anyone know if this lenpen uses 'carbon' to clean the lens?

According to a camera tech that gave a presentation at a Barrie Photo Club meeting it does. He says carbon soot is the one of the softest things you can use to clean smudges on optics. For years be has made his own burning oil and collecting the soot on a Qtip. If you use a lenspen do not forget to give a twist after each use when you return the cap.

Opps sorry I should have read your post carefully and I thought you were asking about these pen devices in general. Are you implying that some of these pens do not use carbon.

Not a problem.

I have seen on some forums that some of them use alcohol instead of the carbon material. this is because these other pens are copies of the original.

Thank you thats good to know. If its alcohol a simple whif of the open pen should tell the tale.
