Hi Guys..

I am in the market for some good lenses..

I am considering a Tamron 17-50 2.8 II and possibly a Sigma 70-200 2.8.

Can anyone recommend anything else besides the two i have chosen? I shoot with a Canon 40D and currently have a 50 MM 1.8 MK II and a 17-85 4-5.6 IS USM.

i assume you dont mind sigma's warm tone.

sigma 18-125 OS HSM
sigma 18-250 OS HSM

both are decent "walk-around" lens with image stabilizer, fast focus, and IF.

or
Canon 18-200 IS

How about Tokina 16-50 2.8? Is it supposed to be the same thing from Pentax?

Hello
If I were you and, If I have the money for an 18-200
That would be the only lens ..That would come in my mind......

If incase you move full frame...you can sell this one off and buy another lens......

Cheers

Wait for the two new cropped lenses coming out soon and the reviews.

15-85mm and 18-135mm EF-S lenses

http://www.dpreview.com/news/0909/09090 ... m135mm.asp

To me, these would be great walk around lenses that are wide enough and with enough reach in a compact size. However, I would wait for reviews before deciding.

I guess, the 18-135 would have to be considerably inexpensive, judging by the looks of it  around $400-500 maybe? I doubt they will be of great quality though.

if i were you, i'd stick with EF lenses, so in case you upgrade to a full frame, u'd still be able to use them. unless u have both (FF and cropped)

additionally, EF lenses usually keep their re-sale value, unlike EF-S
