donp: I really like your shots. there seems to be a cynical undercurrent to them but i don't know if that was your intention.

Matrix: What did you had in mind for that poor girl? The ominous EXIT sign on the top seems to indicate that her time of "departure" has arrived. lol

But seriously, I like those photos, especially how you have post-processed it.

Not really, but I think I see what you mean. The first was just a grab shot the other day that I wouldn't normally post anywhere. The topic came up though...

The other two just came off my blog after I'd posted the first. I just noticed that they fit.

I really find this picture interesting. do you mind describing what you felt when you took this photo?

She had just been married and she was meeting and being congratulated by her friends and family when this quiet moment of contemplation arose that I captured without her being aware of me or the camera. I love the expression, the hands, the surrounding.

The rule of thirds does not apply to this photo. Its very much a portrait and an excellent one.

I partially agree, although her face is where my eyes are naturally drawn too and this is quite close to the upper third division :)

You're right, the moment you look at this photo, you notice her face and if you change anything about the photo it loses its impact.

If I was Sandeep i'd put a watermark on this photo. You have to be protective of your work on the Internet.

Are you saying that this photograph does not follow the rule of thirds or that because it is a portrait the rule of thirds does not need to be considered. If the later I disagree but why bring it up? If the former your are incorrect as the composition of the photograph follows almost perfectly the golden ratio. The rule of thirds is really a ball park rule of thumb derived from the more classical golden ratio. As it turns out its actually very difficult to break the rule of thirds unless you use square format. Good thing to as We don't need no stinking rules!

I agree, but that's no excuse to make terrible pictures.

Who's making terrible pictures? I've seen a lot of fantastic work on here.

Zoraak, I don't think I'm familiar with your work. Have you posted anything here yet? I've seen a lot of comments, but I really don't recall any photos yet...

Great work Gerardo and FFHamilton. I love it when people are photographed in their day-to-day life and somehow by looking at them one feels their energy.

Nice shot on the subway there mondo, I find it hard to take shots on the TTC as it's pretty dark inside (especially the older yellow trains). Here's one on the Hong Kong subway (brighter interior).

This thread inspired me to carry my camera around my neck when I was just going about normal life, a lot easier in the winter when it disappears easily under a big bulky coat :-) Kept it on shutter priority and just hip shot away.

OK, so here's my attempt. This is the first time posting pictures. Sure hope I get it right. Hope you enjoy. I had a couple of others I was going to post, but when I re-read the subject, it had to be people we didn't know.

I Fixed it for you Ronzo! You had the closing tag at the front and no open tag. Click on the Img button then paste your link then click on the Img again to close the tag. You have to do it for each link to a photo.
