Look, why would you call me ignorant when you're not even a woman (or are you?).

The reason those "attractive women" don't like to be photographed by you is not my fault.

Read my post. It says I know a few women (and personally I might add) who do not like strangers photographing them.

I'm not interested in starting a flame war here but you can't generalize. Making a statement that you're being "polite" in photographing someone attractive and whom you don't know personally is just plan naive and ignorant.

I guess I'm not as "studly" as you!

Back to candids ...

That has got to be the most mysoginystic comeback I've read on this forum. Questioning someone's gender also has some homophopbic overtones.

Sigh, no wonder why the TPMG is such a sausagefest...

Oh, and here's a candid.

just wondering... what are the many responses that you get if you got caught taking a picture? do they just look at you and give a weird look? or was anybody confronted?

Hello Ken, is the high contrast look in your pictures more to do with the film or post-processing?

I would love to know because I'm very much into b&w.

Ken may have missed this... but I do know that the film he used (Kodak BW400CN) is extremely contrasty. It's the chromogenic bw stuff. I quite like it for its low grain and ease of development. It also has amazing latitude (Ilford XP2 even more so).

Thanks, I know which film you're talking about I have shot with it before. Its $7 and its quite readily available.

I always see alot of things I want to take pictures of on the TTC...high density population and people really immersed into their conversations with friends or just into themselves...but I get nervous because it's quite obvious I'm taking a pic of them when I'm merely a metre away...

the TTC look:

oooh, man I can't figure out how to post the pic here  it doesn't work when i use the thing....*sigh

Go to "all sizes" at the top of your flickr page (or "different sizes" at the bottom right if your flickr is being a pain like mine) and then choose an appropriate size (medium is usually good) and copy the text they have provided in the first option that says "Copy and paste this HTML into your webpage:" Then paste that into your post here. Give it a try! :)

the images are straight off a disc provided by Shoppers Drug Mart - the contrast is a function of the light being rather contrasty and the film (BW400) being relatively contrasty... however these images were shot on with a 50 years old 50/1.5 Sonnar at or near wide open so the natural contrast of the lens was at the least contrasty aperature...

there was no post processing on either of these images... i find that contrast is a result of light as much as it's film choice, processing technique and the lens being used...

I know. :) She was standing there waiting for a car. The young man just happened to be passing by. I snapped the picture because it was all so strange. I think the expressions on their faces are priceless.

Yeah oakviller that is a very good combination of subjects and expressions

its almost like they are both thinking of each other without it being obvious they know each other exist.
