Details:

What: Canadian International Air Show
When: Monday Sept 05, 2011
Time: 11:30am (show starts at 12:30)
Where: Lakeshore, W of CNE and W of the VIP area.
Bring: Long lenses. Snacks + Water a good idea. So is rain gear, potentially.

Maybe I'll go again. Maybe I'm just putting up three events so that I can say that I've tried the Green, Blue, and Red boxes.
Maybe meeting up at the air show will make sense of it all?

Here is a rough idea of the location from last year (thank you Eddie.S)

It's cloudy, but it's much clearer than on Saturday. I think I managed the same viewing spot.

I think I am seeing part of the airshow from Dundurn Castle in Hamilton - no camera with me though.

Ended up as a party of four.

My hanks to Eddie again for the links to the location, and for the use of his teleconverter.

I also thoughtfully included:

But, we were smart, and we noticed

Here's my fav photo from the airshow. Not really airshow related, but happened during the airshow :p. This guy crossed the no-sail-zone and got chased down by the police. He managed to pick up some wind and out run them haha. They let off once he got out of the zone though.

So, I had mentioned in the Saturday thread that I was going to bring my 180mm macro lens - that would be the Sigma 180mm f/3.5 EX HSM.

Turns out, it seems to have trouble deciding on what to focus on. It's especially bad when there are objects at multiple distances (like planes close to the ground, or boats close to the breakers). With my other lens, I could just brush my subject with an AF point and it would keep focus throughout, but this one needs constant attention. I would like to have tried it on a D7000, since it has an improved AF system.

I also had the opportunity to borrow the Sigma 1.4 tele-convertor and really enjoyed shooting most of the day with it.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ofermod/6126446358/" title="Heavy Metal Jet Team by ofermod, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6206/6126446358_323c16a1eb.jpg" width="500" height="281" alt="Heavy Metal Jet Team"></a>

When I can acheive focus, I think it's a pretty nice combo.
