Details:

What: Queen St / Kensington Stranger Strobist
When: Friday. Jun 24, 2011
Time: 6:30PM
Where: Queen & Peter in front of the hot dog cart on the north side.
Bring: Camera, strobes, triggers, reflectors, stands, lawn chair, beer, whatever you want.

After a year hiatus I thought we could bring this back and maybe make it a bit different. Maybe spread it out across queen street instead of bunching up in one area. Also having some people shoot natural light or across the street and others take up the old spot on Queen/Peter. The other option once we get together is walking down to Kensington and setting up there for the evening.

Either way we'll figure it out as we go. If anyone is interested but doesn't have strobes/lights/etc. Don't be afraid to come by! If we have enough people I'm sure some won't mind sharing.

I am so excited! First TPMG meeting ever :D Also, I have zero experience with strobes, do you think I should just come for the ambient light part, or would there be someone willing to explain the basics to the newbie?

Also I apologize in advance for your first TPMG experience being an event organized by me. I'm a fly by the seat of your pants kinda guy who uses his camera bag to hold beer instead of lenses.

Umm if you want I could volunteer to be "model". I could dress up black with white strip formal business outfit (with tie and stuff) plus I'll bring my matching fedora  and we can shoot in the graffiti alley, that'll create a constrasting image... haha just an idea..

Thanks so much! Also, my camera bag is also very multi-functional, it's basically my purse ;) Great minds think alike!

You might be missing the point, people correct me if I'm wrong, this event is about street portraits of strangers not a modelling or shoot each other type of event.

I would agree. While the photographic result may be the same in some cases. Stepping out of your comfort zone approaching strangers, meeting people and talking to them is a big part of this outing.

Ok, scrap that idea. I shall bring my strobes for some real street photography.

Will try to make it, all depends how late I get out. Whoever coined the phrase "bankers hours" should be drawn and quartered. If I make it will have enough Canon gear to share.

Hrm.. I neglected to check the weather. As long as it's not raining, I'm still in, but they're calling for rain. We'll see I guess.

Hrm... yes... that gives me a good idea. I might go out if it's drizzling anyways.

Anyone have one of these?

I have a shoot-through but I don't think that counts  but I kinda get where you're going with this, would be interesting if we can light up the rain :D

So is it still on? It takes me about an hour to get there by TTC, so I wouldn't want to come if nobody else does :/

Yeah, check back on this thread same time tomorrow. We should know by 3ish as to if this is happening or not. If it's overcast I'm still going to go out, but It's a tough call for you cause it can start coming down any time.

Yes, we can share. :). There are other people offer to share their gears too; and I've also asked another member to bring a trigger as well. :)
